Procedures and Rules of the First International (Foshan) Cai Li Fo Kung Fu Competition

I. Competition Time and Venue:

Time: Oct. 22, 2016-Oct. 23, 2016

Venue: Foshan, Guangdong, China

II. Organizer:

Foshan Municipality Sports Bureau, Foshan Chancheng District Culture Sports Bureau

III. Participant Units:

Cai Li Fo groups, schools, and organizations domestically and abroad. 

IV. Competition Event:

1. Individual Event:

① Men’s (women’s) Cai Li Fo boxing skills

② Men’s (women’s) Cai Li Fo long weapon skills

(Long weapon includes: long stick, spear, gate keeping long handled broadsword (Lan Moon Jaai Dai Do), trident, hoe, Po Dao (a sword with a long blade and a short hilt wielded with two hands), Buddhist monks stick, whip, bench, etc.)

③Men’s (women’s) Cai Li Fo short weapon skills

(Short weapon includes: single broadsword, double broadsword, sword, rattan shield, fan, Xiao (a vertical bamboo flute), long handled broadsword, umbrella, double head stick, stool, dagger, etc.)
　　2. Pair Competition Event:

Barehanded pair competition, weapon pair competition, and barehanded and weapon pair competition (no sex or age limitation).

3. Group Event  

① Group skills, weapon (long or short), without sex limitation, group classification subject to the age of the eldest team member.

② Number of group member: 6-12 persons, point losses for number of people less than 6 or more than 12 with 1 person less or more losing 1 point and so forth.

V. Competition Grouping

1. Individual Event

① Senile Group: Born in 1965 and before (51-year and above) (pure performance, not for awards)

② Senior Group: 1966—1980 (36-year—50-year)

③ Youth Group: 1981—1998 (18-year—35-year)

④ Junior Group: 1999—2003 (13-year—17-year)

⑤ Child Group: 2004—2006 (10-year—12-year)

⑥ Young Child Group: Born in 2007 and later (9-year and below)

2. Group Event

① Junior & Child Group: Born in 1999 and later (17-year and below)

② Senior Group: born in 1998 and before (18-year and above)

VI. Entry Requirements:

1. A team should consist of 1 leader, 2 coaches, and several sportsmen and sportswomen (no restriction on number). A sportsman should only represent one team.

2. A team may be ranked in respect of team score separately or together with other teams as a united team, a united team should consist no more than 5 teams. And a team could only represent or join into one united team. To join a united team, a team should submit the United Information Registration Form. Otherwise, it will be scored separately.

3. A sportsman can take part in one event among individual events (3 events), dual events, or group events; the sportsmen of a united team may take part in dual or group events as group in the name of the united team; concerning group events, the teams in their own name should take part in competition one time for each age group only, and the teams in the name of a united team can take part in competition twice for each age group; there is no restriction in dual events.

4. Concerning group events, the competition grouping is subject to the age of the eldest team member. If replacement of sportsman is required due to injury or illness, an application must be submitted to the joint conference of leaders and coaches before competition. In addition, the age of the replacer should not be out of the age limitation of the grouping.

5. Sportsmen must dress in martial arts wear or sports wear and soft-soled sports shoes, and be in uniform for group events.

6. Weapons for competition should be self-prepared.

7. No arbitration will be subject to, and the decision of the judge panel will be the final call. Contestants must abide the rules of the competition. Violators will be disqualified from participating in competition and their scores will be cancelled.  

8. Sportsmen must bring valid certificates for inspection.

VII. Competition Plan

1. The 2015 Pearl River Delta-Hong Kong-Macao Cai Li Fo Kung Fu Competition Plan (Trail) examined and approved by the organizing committee of Cai Li Fo Kung Fut competition should be referred to.

2. Playing Time

① Each event shall be presented no less than 40 seconds.

② Each individual event shall be finished within 2 minutes.

③ Each dual event shall be finished with 2 minutes.

④Each group event should be finished with 3 minutes.

3. Music is allowed for group events, which should be self-prepared and be absolute music. In case music doesn’t meet the requirement, scores will be deducted according to the rules.

VIII. Appraisal and Awarding

1. Preliminary contest and finals of individual events

①Preliminary contest: Ranking and appraisal shall be performed according to the competition results, awards consist of 30% gold, 45% silver and 25% copper. Medals and certificates will be awarded.

In preliminary contest, top 5 teams of each age group enter into the final; if there are 5 or less contestants, all of them enter into the final.

Top 3 contestants of individual event in “2015 Cai Li Fo Kung Fu Competition” can apply for being regarded as seeded players in this competition to reach the final directly (An application form should be submitted when doing registration, which should be examined and confirmed by the conference. If the specific age limitation is exceeded, then the scores achieved in the previous year become invalid, and the preliminary contest should be undergone).

②Final: The top 3 will be rated as champion, runner-up and third place according to the final results, and awarded with trophies and certificates.

2. Dual events: Ranking and appraisal shall be performed according to the competition results, awards consist of 30% gold, 45% silver and 25% copper. Medals and certificates will be awarded.

3. Group events: Ranking and appraisal should be performed according to the competition results, awards consist of 30% gold, 45% silver and 25% copper, and trophies and certificates will be awarded to teams, and medals to individuals.

4. Pure performance will not be scored or appraised, and mementoes will be handed out.

5. Appraising method of individual all-around and group:

①In individual event final, winners from the first place to the eighth place get 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 score respectively; in dual events, the scores of the top 8 pairs will be doubled; in group events, the points of the top 8 teams in each age group will be triple.

②Individual all-around award: The top 3 contestants who reach the final in the three individual events in their age group will be rated as the champion, runner-up, and third place of individual all-around award according to the sum of the final results of the three events. Trophies and certificates will be awarded. The young child group and the senile group will not be appraised for individual all-around award.

       ③Group total score award: As to a team (united team), the sum of the scores of the two members with the best results in individual events, the scores of the two pairs with the best results in dual events, and the scores of the team with the best results in group events in each age group is the total score of the team (united team). The top 3 teams will be rated as the champion, runner-up, and third place according to the group total score. Trophies and certificates will be awarded.

IX. Application and Registration:

1. Contestants must apply for participating in the competition in group, and no individual application will be accepted.

2. Application time: From Jul.1^st, 2016 to Sept. 15^th, 2016

3. The joint conference will be held with leaders and coaches on the very day of competition (the specific time and venue are subject to further notice); contestants must arrive 30 minutes ahead of start of competition for roll calling.

X. Receiving the Awards:

Team awards will be given away in the awarding ceremony, and other awards will be received by the team leaders or coaches with signature after the end of competition.

XI. Others:

No fee will be charged for application, and other fees should be beared by each participating group.

Every group must take responsibility of purchasing personal accident insurance for their group members.

XII. Judge panel: will be designated by the organizing committee.

XIII. The organizer reserves the right to explain the procedures.  As to matters not covered herein, further notice will be shared when needed.
